*Please note that more and more these days we are recommending bonded bead cavity wall insulation (wherever possible) as a better choice for your home due to its longevity.  Please visit our main cavity wall insulation page for more information.

What is Cavity Wall Foam Insulation

Cavity wall foam insulation is perfect for houses with cavity walls built after the 1940s where there has been a loss of structural integrity due to corroded wall ties.

Spray foam insulation restores structural stability, reduces heat loss, protects against the weather and eliminates up to 75% of outside noise. The foam completely seals the cavity and does not shrink and so air leakage through the cavity can be reduced to zero.

We use BASF Walltite closed cell cavity wall insulation, which stabilises the wall by adhering to the inner surfaces of the cavity and providing a continuous structural connection between the two leaves.

This type of spray foam insulation creates an air tight layer which prevents the absorption of moisture, so inhibiting the growth of mould, and reducing the risk of pest infestations.

BASF Walltite spray foam can also be used in new construction where superior thermal performance, reduced air leakage and resistance to flood water is required.  It has excellent resistance to driving rain and can be installed in all geographical exposure zones.

Because of its greater thermal performance and the reduced air leakage, Walltite outperforms all other forms of cavity fill.  It is hypoallergenic, contains no fibres, dust or noxious fumes.  It also prevents drafts from entering your home, reducing airborne contaminants like dust and pollen that might enter your home.

Spray foam insulation is an excellent choice for a high performing, all round insulation product as it provides thermal resistance, manages moisture, and also contributes to improved indoor air quality.

BASF Walltite foam insulation is installed by our trained BASF Foam Master contractors and is British Board of Agrément approved ensuring that you receive a properly installed, high quality product.

New Builds

Spray foam is ideal for new builds in order to create an air seal in your home.  It fills all the crevices and hard to reach areas, and doesn’t settle over time.  It is fast and easy to apply during construction, reducing the length of your build.  The high thermal performance of spray foam allows you to keep the thickness of insulation to a minimum, so maximising your living space.  In addition, you can eliminate up to 75% of noise from outside.

Installation

You will notice an improvement in the temperature of your house immediately, even without the heating on. You can use all household equipment immediately, use your central heating or light a fire straight away.

Spray foam insulation and its installation have no effect on the integrity of the building.  There is no additional risk of fire as there is insufficient air in the cavity to sustain a fire provided the cavity is capped as per regulations.

Technical Information

Installation also offers a 10 year product guarantee. With a thermal conductivity of 0.025 W/mk WALLTITE achieves a U-value of 0.21 W/m2k over a 120mm cavity width as required by TGD 2011 Part L – Elemental U- values. Other U-value calculations can be provided by contacting the ECON technical team. WALLTITE cavity wall insulation, then provides an airtight, watertight insulation layer coupled with the highest rate of heat resistance possible for cavity wall injection systems.
