Earthwool Attic Insulation
Up to 25% of the heat lost in your home escapes through the roof. Attic insulation helps to prevent this heat loss and save you money on your heating bills. It also has the opposite effect in the summer by ensuring your house is kept much cooler. Attic (or loft) insulation acts as a blanket, trapping any heat rising from the house below. The current SEAI standard is a depth of 300mm or 12″. If your loft has not been insulated in the past 6 years, it will most likely require topping up. The insulation is installed between the joists in your ceiling. Most Irish houses have copper pipe work in their attics and very often during a cold winter the pipes can freeze and eventually burst. Pipe lagging can prevent this problem. This insulation is fitted by Complete Insulations swiftly and easily. We will top up your existing insulation from 100mm to 300mm in order to comply with SEAI regulations.
Very often people’s homes also have exposed, cold water tanks in the attic. These can get contaminated by outside forces such as birds or rodents. In order to ensure that this kind of contamination stops, we can place rigid lids onto your exposed tanks. This process also strictly follows SEAI requirements and grants are available for this kind of work. View PDF for more information.
Attic Insulation Savings
If you have no loft insulation and you install the recommended 300mm depth you could save around €250 a year on your heating bills and 900kg of CO2. If your loft requires topping up to the recommended 100mm depth, you could save up to €170 a year and 230kg of CO2. These figures are provided by The Energy Saving Trust and are based on a 3 bedroom semi-detached property heated by gas. Greater savings can be made in larger properties or those heated by coal or electricity. Home Insulation Grants
Loft insulation decreases the amount of heat escaping through the roof. The process is quick, clean and inexpensive to install.
Installation typically takes around three hours and includes insulating pipes & water tanks, in addition to insulating and draft proofing the hatch. If your water tanks are more than 1m from the hatch, a walk board will also be fitted.
